Kevin saunderson, one of the creators of techno, celebrates 20 years of productions. 3rd installment double A side 12″ of the kevin saunderson history project where KMS invite selected contributors to remix prime cuts of kevin’s productions crossing all his monikers, from inner city, reese project, e dancer, resse and santonio and tronik house. “Good Life” Mathew Jonson’s Acid Mix Mathew Jonson is one of the leading lights in techno’s Generation 2000andX and it’s a fitting passing of the mantle that he takes on the job of remixing one of the genre’s first crossover hits. A task that would make most producers cower under their studio desks in fear such is the weight of expectation that comes with it, MAthew confidently crafts a reinterpration that’s fitting with techno’s new minimalist house sensibilities. The stripped back vocals snake sexily in and out of a snarling, jumpy bassline and skippy percussion that ooze sensuality and tension in equal measures. Tellingly the signature stabs of the original creep in only at the very end as an ode to the past this time unnecessary for a remix that’s already packing enough bite to make it inspire those late night peak time dancefloor moments. “Just Want Another Chance” John Tejada remix Kevin’s pioneering seductive low end hum went on to feature in techno and drum ‘n’ bass records for much of the next decade and on this re rub west coast techno ambassador John Tejada keeps the original biting low end hook and updates it with arpegiatting melodies set amongst old skool cymbals and driving claps and percussion that echo the sounds of Detroit’s golden days into a new era.
